# Home Assistant Weather Records

Store long-term weather records (such as high/low temperatures, maximum wind speed, and rainfall totals) in Home Assistant using standard helpers and automations.

### Step One: Add Helper Files
Place weather_numbers.yaml and weather_datetimes.yaml in your main Home Assistant configuration directory (where your configuration.yaml is located).

### Step Two: Configure `configuration.yaml`
Add the following include lines to your `configuration.yaml` so Home Assistant loads the required helpers:

```yaml
input_number: !include weather_numbers.yaml
input_datetime: !include weather_datetimes.yaml
```

### Step Three: Create Automations

For each of the 6 automation files provided in the repository:

1. Go to **Settings > Automations & Scenes > Create Automation > Create New Automation** in your Home Assistant UI.
2. Click the three dots in the top right corner and select **Edit in YAML**.
3. Replace with the contents of the respective automation file, paste it into the editor, and replace the placeholder sensor tags (e.g., `<OUTDOOR TEMP SENSOR>`, `<WIND SENSOR>`, `<DAILY RAIN SENSOR>`, etc.) with your actual weather station entity IDs.
4. Save the automation.

*Note: In the temperature and wind records automation, ensure your notification service call matches your preferred platform (such as `gotify.send`, `notify.persistent_notification`, etc.).*
