# Home Assistant Weather Records

Store long-term weather records (such as high/low temperatures, maximum wind speed, and rainfall totals) in Home Assistant using standard helpers and automations.

## Prerequisites

Before installing the automations, you need to create the required helper entities. Go to **Settings > Devices & Services > Helpers** in Home Assistant and create the following items:

### Input Numbers
* `input_number.day_temp_max`
* `input_number.day_temp_min`
* `input_number.day_wind_max`
* `input_number.highest_daily_recorded_rainfall`
* `input_number.highest_weekly_recorded_rainfall`
* `input_number.highest_monthly_recorded_rainfall`
* `input_number.highest_recorded_temp`
* `input_number.lowest_recorded_temp`
* `input_number.highest_recorded_wind_speed`
* `input_number.last_month_rain`
* `input_number.rain_yesterday`

### Input Datetimes
* `input_datetime.day_temp_max_time`
* `input_datetime.day_temp_min_time`
* `input_datetime.highest_daily_rainfall_date`
* `input_datetime.highest_weekly_rainfall_date`
* `input_datetime.highest_monthly_rainfall_date`
* `input_datetime.highest_temp_date`
* `input_datetime.lowest_temp_date`
* `input_datetime.highest_wind_speed_date`

## Installation

1. Create all the helper entities listed above.
2. Copy the automation files into your Home Assistant `automations.yaml` or include them via separate automation files.
3. **Important:** Open the imported automations and replace the placeholder sensor entities (e.g., `gw1100a_v2_2_3_###`) with your actual weather station entity IDs.
4. Reload your automations in Home Assistant.
